The superhero genre has never been more popular, with Avengers: Infinity War becoming the fourth highest grossing movie of all time in 2018. The Marvel movie machine has helped to elevate the genre to new heights, which means that even obscure superheroes and supervillains have a chance at hitting the silver screen. The attitude towards superhero movies hasn’t always been so positive, however. The current crop of superhero movies has the benefit of amazing visual effects technology and a vocal Internet fanbase that will promote them to the ends of the Earth with free advertising on social media, which was something that didn’t exist before the ’00s....

Update: T-Mobile has confirmed a security breach, but says it doesn’t yet know the extent of it. Statement below. A hacker is selling what they claim is personal data from 100 million T-Mobile customers in the US, stating that this means full records for each customer, including social security numbers… Motherboard reports. The data appears comprehensive: The forum post itself doesn’t mention T-Mobile, but the seller told Motherboard they have obtained data related to over 100 million people, and that the data came from T-Mobile servers […]...

Tom Clancy was an American novelist most known for creating the fictional character Jack Ryan. In film adaptations of his work, Ryan has been played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Chris Pine. But Clancyès name first broke into the video game scene with The Hunt for Red October, a submarine simulator based on his novel and subsequent movie. There are now 41 games with Clancy’s name attached, both with the Red Storm Entertainment and, currently, Ubisoft....

Every great superhero needs a supervillain. It’s comic book 101, the true test of greatness behind every caped crusader in (and outside of) the universe. Pixar’s The Incredibles(2004) even understood this step, identifying a dichotomy that’s crucial to the whole idea of being “super” in the first place. There’s good news and bad news about the new 16-inch MacBook Pro charger. The good news is that it’s the first one on the market to offer a new high-power charging standard that enables USB chargers to exceed 100W for the first time. The bad news is that the technology is so new that there isn’t yet a compatible USB-C cable. Update: The newness of the standard also means the USB-C ports aren’t compatible with it....

For the last three seasons of television, This Is Us has been one of the breakaway hits, pulling in enormous amounts of viewers, passionate online fans, and awards and nominations by the dozen. The NBC family drama series follows the lives of the extended Pearson family, a story that spans multiple generations and time periods and seamlessly navigates back and forth between them. The revival of the Jurassic Park franchise following the success of Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has allowed for expansion into television. In 2020, Netflix will premier Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, an animated dinosaur adventure created by DreamWorks Animation and produced by Steven Spielberg that takes place on the other side of Isla Nublar. So far, we know that it will involve a group of teenagers that win the chance of a lifetime; a stay at Camp Cretaceous, a unique experience featuring new and old dinosaurs from the Jurassic World theme park....

As an actor, making it to the so-called “A-list” is no easy task. A-listers are Hollywood’s elite and if you make it, a world of power, money, and influence is yours. It’s ludicrously hard to make it to that level in the first place but it’s even more difficult to maintain it. [This is a review of the 11.22.63 finale. There will be SPOILERS.] - Watching the closing minutes of Hulu’s eight-episode adaptation of Stephen King’s (mostly) ’60s-set time-travel story 11.22.63, it’s clear just how much the success of the miniseries hinged on the quality of its casting. While the series as a whole was filled with top-notch performances from the likes of Justified’s Nick Searcy and an all-too-brief set of appearances from Cherry Jones as Lee Harvey Oswald’s doting mother, it boiled down to (as many shows often do) the chemistry of its two leads, James Franco and, especially with respect to the series’ parting shot, Sarah Gadon....

The first trailer for Sam Mendes’ upcoming World War I film 1917 has been revealed. This film marks Mendes’ first post-007 project following Skyfall in 2012 and Spectre in 2015. Though very little has been revealed about 1917 ever since its announcement, the only details about the film were vague at best, simply describing it as as a film set during World War I - in 1917, specifically. The screenplay was penned by Krysty Wilson-Cairns, who was originally a staff writer on the Showtime series Penny Dreadful....

This morning the 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced, and as usual there were plenty of familiar faces, but also a few welcome surprises.
