Just two days after pop music legend David Bowie celebrated his 69th birthday and released his latest album, Blackstar, the singer-songwriter has passed away following a battle with cancer. The news came to Bowie’s native UK in the early hours of the morning, leaving fans the world over shocked and mourning one of the most influential artists of the past century. In addition to his diverse music career that spanned almost 50 years, Bowie was also known for his paintings and his roles in films such as Labyrinth and The Man Who Fell To Earth....

Although Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s future is still uncertain, the show has just passed its milestone 100th episode. As with many TV shows, S.H.I.E.L.D. took the opportunity to step back in time, to explore its own rich history, and to reintroduce a few familiar faces. It did this with a clever narrative device, with a dimensional tear opening to a Dimension of Dreams - and nightmares. Coulson wound up facing off against some very familiar faces, but thankfully he was able to call in an old friend for help....

Since premiering nearly two and a half decades ago, Friends has shown itself to be a long-lasting cultural phenomenon. The term “B-Movie” is often used to dismissively describe low-budget schlock, and to an extent, that’s true. Companies like The Asylum peddle in low-rent “Mockbusters” (Transmorphers, Alien vs Hunter) and films with high-concept titles, but little respect for the craft of filmmaking (Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus). On the other hand, films like The Creature From the Black Lagoon and The Blob, undisputed classics though they may be, definitely qualify as B-Movies, as they were low on budget, but high on imagination and a boundless love of the art....

Eclectic Hollywood producer Adi Shankar has an interesting portfolio of films to his credit; ranging from well-received drama/thrillers like The Grey and Lone Survivor to critical and/or cult favorites like Killing Them Softly and Dredd. However, he’s also the driving force behind the “Bootleg Universe”: a collection of short films based unofficially on pre-existing licensed properties. The ultra-violent fighting game series Mortal Kombat has become known for gory kills, over-the-top characters, a story built around deep lore, and cinematic battles. The games are some of the more movie-esque games on the market, with the newer versions having story-modes filled with long cutscenes to move the player from fight to fight. With how big the world has grown, and how cinematic it all is, it is no surprise that Mortal Kombat has pulled a lot of details from famous films and folded them into their world....

Throughout The Simpsons, Charles Montgomery Burns is responsible for some of the show’s funniest moments. Despite the laughter, it is important to remember that Burns is not a nice person. At his core, he is one of the most despicable TV villains ever created. His misdeeds are numerous, ranging from comedic to downright evil, his lust for money and power often endangering others in the process. From risking the lives of his employees to dealing with the actual Devil, there is no line that Burns won’t cross....

Rev up the chainsaw and prepare for some carnage because there are bucket loads of fun to had in Hollywood. The horror genre is positively dripping in blood. While those boys from Scream may tell you it’s just corn syrup and food coloring, having fake blood splashed across cinema screens still doesn’t keep some viewers from feeling woozy. On a surface level, it seems like Wolverine of the X-Men doesn’t have that many superpowers and the ones he does possess aren’t flashy or cool to look at. His adamantium claws are awesome, but he has rarely been given a chance to use them, due to the fact that he often appears in productions that are intended for all ages. This has meant that Wolverine is often forced to use his claws on robotic enemies, as he can’t slice human enemies into bloody piles of goo in cartoons, movies, and video games that kids might play....

There’s a certain thrill that only a surprise cameo can bring to a movie. Rotten Tomatoes is a website that aggregates reviews from critics in print magazines and those from online sources. Those reviews make up the Tomatometer and scores on a scale of 0% to 100%. Rotten Tomatoes has a separate Audience Score, which often has a disparity from the Tomatometer. This can happen when critics look at a movie or TV show with a technical or “professional” eye while the general viewer or fan bases their review or score on how well it entertained them....

Most video games go through an extensive period of testing in order to check for bugs and glitches. These are done to isolate and fix anything that can cause the game to crash. With the ability to patch console games through online functionality, developers can now fix problems that are discovered after a release. All of the Final Fantasy games released before XI did not have the luxury of post-release patches....
