Family movie night is the best. It’s the perfect chance to spend some time with the people that we love most and also watch an entertaining flick. When we have kids, we can’t wait to show them some of our favorite movies and have them fall in love with the stories that we adored when we were growing up. Another great thing about family movie night is that it gives us the opportunity to talk about some of the characters and themes in the films that we’re curling up in front of....

Even though Supergirl’s producers had previously commented that they wouldn’t do any crossovers, they recently decided to change their mind! Last week, it was excitedly announced that The Flash will do a crossover episode with the CBS show. This is a huge deal because crossovers have mostly happened within the “Arrowverse” on the CW. With this crossover between channels happening, that leaves a whole lot of possibilities open for other crossover episodes....

Ridley Scott announced recently that despite Alien: Covenant underperforming at the box office and Fox selling most of its cinematic assets to Disney, he is still working on another Alien sequel to complete the prequel trilogy that he began with Prometheus and Covenant. There is also a rumor that Scott will follow up this trilogy with another sequel that will tie the prequels and the original series together, but let’s just take it one movie at a time....

Full House is a family show of the 80s and 90s known for its lovable characters and their quirky catchphrases. In the eight seasons that the show ran for, it racked up almost 200 episodes, each dealing with a new problem faced by different members of the house. While Full House was often light and cheery, there were several times when things got a bit more serious on set. From peer pressure among friends to big changes in life, the show featured several darker issues, and they were all handled with grace....

High school as a horror movie may have been the original concept behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but Joss Whedon and Co. were still churning out bad guys long after the slayer left Sunnydale High. Whether they were inspired by other works of fiction (Dracula, for example) or created entirely from scratch, the supernatural foes the Scooby Gang encountered were more creative than just your run-of-the-mill vamps. Although many of the Buffy baddies were purposefully designed to be campy and fun, some of them were genuinely frightening (especially in the later seasons), and you can’t help but wonder how they got away with a TV-14 rating....

Released in the summer of 1998, The Wedding Singer is that rare beast: an Adam Sandler comedy which manages to be charming, sweet and perhaps most notably, consistently funny. Sure, the film shoehorns in more lazy 80s references than the entire first season of The Goldbergs. It also sees the current critics’ whipping boy wisely toning down the passive-aggressive manchild routine he’s become notorious for, strike up a sparkling rapport with Drew Barrymore which would prove to be surprisingly enduring, and utilize an eclectic cast which included an octogenarian rapper, a Boy George lookalike and one of the ‘80s finest bleached blonde punk rockers....

TV shows offer the audience a chance to vicariously live their fantasies through fictional characters. This can be something as simple as being in a relationship with a beautiful/handsome person. The exact definition of attractiveness varies widely from person to person, so it’s not unusual to see relationships on television where there is a significant age gap between the couple. There have been occasions where the age gap is so wide that it becomes creepy....

For ten seasons from 2001 to 2011, Smallville documented a young Clark Kent’s growing pains as he learned to use his incredible powers. The show was a smash hit, charting Kent’s journey from high school in Smallville to life at the Daily Planet in Metropolis, and finishing just as he fully embraced his destiny and took on the role of Superman. Spanning more than 200 episodes, Smallville had a lot of stories to tell, and not all of them were about the future Superman....

Television fandom is a fickle thing. Some series are cut short before they’ve had a chance to hit their stride (Freaks and Geeks, My So-Called Life), while others long overstay their welcome (Happy Days, Roseanne). Even worse are the ones that were once exceptional but somehow lose their footing, often causing ardent viewers to sit through garbage television while praying it regains its early magic. In some cases, the wait is worth the payoff....

Deadpool 2 has lived up to the hype, exceeding most expectations with a strong emotional plot that no one expected to see, in addition to Deadpool’s hilarious hijinks that make him into the hero that we all love. This Deadpool sequel not only exceeds the previous movie, but also properly prepares fans for what they should expect to see next. It is just more proof that Deadpool is the best series in the X-Men franchise....
