As of late, superhero movies have been all the rage, making studios millions orsometimes billions of dollars. Each movies studio seems to have the rights to at least a few superheroes whether it be DC or Marvel. Even though there have been more and more superhero movies coming out each year, fans just can not get enough. While having a ton of fans watching movies should be good for actor’s careers, sometimes it hinders their progress in Hollywood....

One thing Marvel properties have in common is their fondness for hiding small details in plain sight. Sometimes, that’s an Easter egg. Others, that’s a connection the property will revisit. When Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. debuted on ABC, Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb liked to remind the audience, “it’s all connected.” This idea holds true within the show itself as well. A staple of western RPGs is the dedication to nearly limitless choices. Foreign RPGs tend to be more linear, leaving freedom to character progression, but franchises like Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age actually let gamers impact the plot. Almost every objective can be solved through multiple means, sometimes effecting the world in unforeseen circumstances. Of course, this is only when the idea is completed flawlessly. Often times, decisions turn out to be insignificant and the game only creates an illusion of choice....

In most films containing a mysterious element, the truth behind said mystery is revealed before the end credits roll. But that’s not always the case – indeed, some of the greatest movies of all time conclude with at least one major loose end intentionally left dangling. While ambiguity in films can be seen as a good thing – it invites viewers to actively engage with the story in order to find answers, and encourages further discussion – it can also be more than a little maddening!...

Marvel and DC are two of the biggest comic publishers in the world. Marvel dates back to 1939, and DC dates back even further to 1934. The two companies have both been around for a long time and over the years have given readers some iconic superhero characters as well as villains. The biggest question for audiences after watching Dark Phoenix is why Sansa never used her psychic and telekinetic powers during the Battle of Winterfell. She sure had fun using her powers in this movie! Maybe it’s just a Stark family trait. Bran and Sansa have these amazing abilities, but they rather just watch everyone else die. What’s also important to know is that Game of Thrones has absolutely nothing to do with the X-Men franchise....

Analysts – and investors, of course – wanted to hear yesterday’s Q2 earnings, but they were even more eager to get any clues to how AAPL Q3 2022 numbers might look. The company reported record revenue for fiscal Q2, despite component shortages, but the company warned that things could get tougher in the current quarter … Apple yesterday reported Q2 revenue of $97.3B. That’s not only a new Q2 record but higher than even the most bullish of analysts had expected....

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is one of the most divisive superhero movies ever made; pulling down big sales, awful reviews, a rollercoaster box-office and starting heated arguments between fans, critics and just about anyone who decides to have an opinion about it. Harry Potter may be the most famous franchise in the world. My generation grew up on them; even future generations are growing up on them, though it’s different movies and a play rather than the original seven books and the eight movie counterpart series. It’s pretty easy to see why they are so huge —the world-building, the characters… everything is magical, amazing, and a great escape from reality. But they aren’t without their controversy and one aspect of that is that when they were originally made into movies, some changes were made for the big screen that really disappointed book fans....

No sugar-coating here: the DC extended universe is a disappointment, so far. Now, that critique is not without its limits. The creators over at DC are capable of turning the ship around. The writers and directors are beginning to come around to an alternative way to succeeding. It seems their films are no longer merely playing cookie cutter catch up to Marvel. The whole film wing of the corporation appears to be trending towards the reset button....

Cosplay isn’t always as simple as buying a Spidey outfit from your local party store and zipping it up on the drive over. Characters like Iron Man or the Hulk seem incomprehensible to recreate accurately, but you can bet that any superhero, no matter how complex, has been tackled by a crazy fan. For many, summer is a time to kick back and relax with a cool drink and the sand in your toes, but for hardcore comic book fans July is just around the corner and that means Comic Con is on its way....
