It’s that time of year again– the time when we are hearing about which TV shows are officially on their final stretch, and which ones are likely to be. Once upon a time, it was pretty cut-and-dry when series were ending, and why. Shows with good ratings typically stayed on the air, and shows with flagging ratings didn’t. Now, obviously there were always exceptions to both rules. Sometimes, shows with good ratings end for other reasons, most commonly because a major actor left and/or the creators just decided it was time....

For music fans, Glee was a seminal show. What started as a comedy-drama mocking popular shows at the time like American Idol and The Voice soon morphed into a full-fledged teenage drama that dealt with adult issues big and small. Through 121 episodes and 728 musical performances, we got to know the characters, picked our favorites, and became emotionally invested them as they journeyed through adolescence. We laughed, we cried, we shook our heads, and we questioned the characters’ decisions and motivations....

Anyone who grew up in the 2000s would agree that there are a fair few things we would all rather forget about that particular decade. From Trucker caps, Crocs, and chunky wallet chains through to Blackberries, Beyblades, and saying “Whassup?” on the phone at any given moment, some teenage trend are just better left in the past. It’s a slightly more complicated situation with the teen movies of the era, though....

As a whole, video game logic is spurious at best. Even the most realistic of video games don’t hold up all that well to scrutiny in that regard. There are some genres that play faster and looser with logic than others, and few require more suspension of disbelief than role-playing games. Couple that with a role-playing game about a world full of literally hundreds of unique magical monsters that can each be captured– largely by children– in balls no bigger than a pineapple, and any semblance of logic goes completely off the rails....

Over its seven-season run, the ground-breaking Sons of Anarchy built a loyal fanbase for Jax Teller and his lawless motorcycle gang. So captivating was this series that a spin-off show, Mayans M.C., was created to continue filling SOA fans’ appetites for more high octane-action. While many were unsure as to whether Mayans M.C. would live up to the hype of its predecessor, audiences were blown away by the first season of this series set in the same fictional world as the men from SAMCRO....

The 90 Day Fiancé stars David Toborowsky and Annie Suwan, who appeared on the season of the TLC series, came back last night for 90 Day: LIVE from New York City to talk about where they are now - most notably: whether or not they’re still living in a storage unit apartment. When we left them in season 5, the couple had trouble affording the dowry that is customary in Annie’s Thai culture, as David was jobless....

ABC isn’t too interested in superheroes right now, as evidenced by the network’s decision to cancel Marvel’s Inhumans and pass on the Greatest American Superhero reboot this week. To be fair, the news of Inhuman’s cancellation was far from shocking; the series is easily the least liked IP to come from the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, and its season 1 ratings reflected as much. As for Greatest American Hero, it’s now the latest reboot of the 1980s TV show to go to pilot, only for the network behind it to decline a series order....

Just Go With It stars Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston may reunite on Netflix for the action-comedy Murder Mystery. Sandler of course has become one of Netflix’s signature stars thanks to a string of films beginning with 2015’s The Ridiculous 6. Last April, Netflix reported that viewers had spent half-a-billion hours watching Sandler movies on the streaming service. That explains why Netflix continues churning out Adam Sandler vehicles, like this year’s The Week Of co-starring Chris Rock....

Disney has brought so much magic and wonder into our childhoods, and if you’re anything like us, it has added a spark of joy to our adult lives as well. Most of us will never grow out of our Disney phase. Sharks get all the glory! Yes, Jaws is a bonafide masterpiece, and the salt-water killing machines are almost tailor-made to be action and horror movie antagonists, but large reptiles have been around just as long and can be just as deadly. Sure, crocs, snakes and their cold-blooded brethren are somewhat sluggish, but that hasn’t stopped plenty of filmmakers from trying to make them scary. Case in point: Alexandre Aja’s just-released Crawl, a lean, mean little thriller about a college student trying to rescue her father from the jaws of ravenous Florida alligators during a hurricane....

Over the past ten years, we’ve seen innumerable films on the big screen that cover a wide array of genres. But when it comes to comedy, the past decade has brought the silver screen some of the most questionable, hilarious, offensive and downright outrageous films that we’ve ever seen. This week, shock-comedian Sacha Baron Cohen looks to add to that with The Brothers Grimsby, which is already courting controversy. From slapstick to satire, Hollywood has always brought laughs with its countless comedies, but the past decade has revealed a more risqué side of comedy....

Pretty much everyone has wondered what it would be like to be an actor. They live seemingly charmed lives that most people would hack off an extremity for (a pinky at the very least). However, there is really nothing glamorous about the arduous trials of becoming a performer. Going on countless auditions for parts you don’t want, all in the hopes of being “discovered”. Acting is such a difficult profession to break into and few who attempt to do it actually succeed....

Superheroes are known for protecting the innocent and often giving voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. To most, this only applies to human beings, but certain heroes have widened their protective umbrella to encompass animals as well. A few of them have even gone beyond simply altering their diet and have dabbled in animal rights activism. Surprisingly, although Aquaman spends a great deal of time protecting all manner of creatures that inhabit the sea, he also enjoys eating fish and chips....

It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally about to get one of cinema’s first real villainous team ups when Suicide Squadhits theaters this summer. Aside from hopefully righting the ship that nearly tipped over with Batman V Superman, Suicide Squad is meant to extend the DC Cinematic Universe and bring a whole bunch of new and returning characters into the fray in an exciting way. With Suicide Squad, look for director David Ayer to bring some much needed sense of fun to DC movies and provide audiences with the type of light-hearted adventure that Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder never could....

Apart from the general ineptitude of David Brent, much of the foundation on which the original UK version of The Office was built upon was the flirtation between Tim and Dawn. In fact, that entire series concluded before we even saw the two officially get together. When Tim and Dawn became Jim and Pam for the American version, there was some worry that they got together too early on in the show’s run....

Understandably, the hype around Detective Pikachu continues to mount. Who doesn’t want to see a yellow, furry, oversized rodent with Ryan Reynolds’ voice run around having adventures? The combination of Reynolds and Pikachu set the bar high from the jump. It doesn’t hurt Reynolds’ last movie featured him killing everyone in sight when he wasn’t getting torn in half by Juggernaut—or growing back his baby legs. To many fans, Reynolds and Deadpool are now one and the same, making it even weirder to hear that voice come from the mouth of everyone’s favorite Pokémon....

When it comes to the superhero business, looks are important. Your heroes need to be bold, colorful, strong, dynamic symbols that people can get behind. On the flip side, your villains need to be representative of something much darker and look mean and intimidating. Obviously, this isn’t always the case, but in general, we want our heroes to be awesome looking bastions of justice and want our villains to look like they pose a significant threat to a do-gooder’s wellbeing....
