Aquaman made his comic book debut in 1941. He appeared in anthology volumes until he got his self titled series in the 1960s. During that decade his most famous partner, Mera, made her debut. Aquaman and Mera hit it off right after meeting and entered a relationship. Mera made appearances in the comics in between Aquaman’s adventures with Aqualad and the Justice League. While he explored the world, she primarily featured as part of his stories back home in Atlantis....

Books have long been a source of inspiration for movies, with countless adaptations popping up throughout the years. In recent years, there has been a new wave of young adult and children’s book-to-movie adaptations thanks to mega-franchise blockbusters like The Twilight Saga and The Hunger Games. However, YA movies aren’t exactly a new phenomenon. Nicholas Sparks’ 1999 novel A Walk to Remember became a movie in 2002, and S.E. Hinton’s 1967 hit The Outsiders was adapted in 1983, even becoming a TV series and a stage play....

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a vast, sprawling collection of superheroes, secret agents and galactic guardians that is expanding faster and faster with every passing year. While we look forward to the addition of more familiar faces from the pages of comic book history, sometimes it just feels like a shame that only Marvel characters can be a part of the massive universe that is the MCU. Part Nancy Drew, part Dawson’s Creek noir, Veronica Mars was a breath of fresh air when it debuted on the now-defunct UPN in 2004. It ran for two seasons on the network before UPN and WB merged to create the CW, where the show had one more season. The series followed the title character while she attended high school in Neptune, a small California town. At one time she was part of the in-crowd, but the murder of her best friend and her father’s fall from grace as the local Sherriff made her the target of harassment at school....

We may be past the days of Generation I, but the Pokémon video game franchise is still going strong. Where players had to put a ton of effort into finding the secrets of Pokémon Red and Blue, the more recent entries in the Pokémon world grant players far more opportunities to find extra content. Gone are the days of glitching your way through the walls of the Pewter City Gym, replaced with dozens of post-game sidequests to entertain the player after defeating the Elite Four and becoming the Pokémon Champion....

Who doesn’t love Sailor Moon? This peppy teen hero defeated evil and saved the world on more than one occasion with her crew of Sailor Soldiers and captivated young girls (and boys) with her inspirational wisdom and girl power mantras. She stole our hearts, educated us on the importance of exercise and studying, and was one of the most relatable animated characters for young girls in the nineties. Sailor Moon Crystal has also been doing the classic Sailor Moon justice and is super entertaining for now-adult fans, not just kids....

Deadpool sliced and diced his way to unseating Avengers: Infinity War from its box office throne over the weekend, scoring $300 million+ internationally. The hefty haul for the second offering in the DP franchise has caused everyone to wear some kind of Deadpool merch, transforming the “Merc with a Mouth” to the “Merc with the Money.” Like any Marvel offering, an iconic protagonist is the perfect red-and-black springboard to launch other superheroes with hopes of franchise aspirations....

Few people, when asked what it is about Batman that makes him so compelling, will talk about Robin. They’ll mention Batman’s iconography, his tragic upbringing, his mix of power and pain, but what they won’t mention is the revolutionary superhero plot device that was introduced to make the character flow a little better, who then evolved into a popular character in his own right. Robin wasn’t the first sidekick, but he was the first sidekick to a superhero, and deserves the credit for not just the cliches, and jokes, but also the myriad of dynamics that have tried to emulate the teamwork of Batman and Robin....

An analyst has estimated that the upcoming launch of the 2021 MacBook Pro with M1X chip will result in almost a third of current owners upgrading to one of the new models. Apple is expected to announce two new MacBook Pro models at its Unleashed event on Monday. Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives made the prediction. It’s unclear whether Apple will also launch third-generation AirPods at the event, but Ives believes the odds are in favor....

Though the premise of the movie seemed simplistic in nature, the 1986 film Stand by Me proved to be more than four boys in search of a body. Based on the novella The Body by Stephen King, the film managed to capture not only the spirit of the original tale, but also the hearts of film fans for generations to come. The film’s cast included several up-and-coming stars that would go on to lead successful film and television careers....

A survey shows that 49% of Android users are considering switching to Apple’s iPhone due to “perceived superiority” in security and privacy. In addition, consumers reported feeling more secure using the iPhone 13 Pro Max instead of Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra. The survey by Beyond Identity, which interviewed 1,003 Americans regarding mobile phone security habits and sentiments, shows that 76% of Apple users feel more secure with iOS. In contrast, 74% of Android users have the same perception....
