Chosen Ones are all over pop culture and even religion, from Jesus Christ to the Dalai Lama. They’re characters of destiny, often foretold by prophecy to become great leaders or bringers of profound change to the world,. In some cases their scope even reaches out to have galactic consequences. Often, they are not born into greatness. They come from humble beginnings (so they’re relatable to the audience) to achieve profound prominence, most often to save the world or galaxy from some great, oppressive force of evil....

It should be no surprise at this point that movie studios often buy the rights to literature in order to make hit movies. Sometimes it’s because studios are in a dry spell when it comes to screenplays and other times it’s simply because they see the potential for a popular movie adaptation. Many different books have been adapted into movies and TV shows. Everything from short stories to biblical epics have at one point been adapted for the big screen....

Each year, the list of highest paid actors garners attention from moviegoers and fans across the web – 2015 being no different. While many of the top earners from the past few years have managed to maintain their status as major forces in the industry, there have been more than a few changes, trends, and surprises worth talking about from the past year. The way that movies have depicted disabilities of all sorts ranges from spot-on to downright offensive. Blindness in particular has been a fairly free-game disability to portray in an offensive manner without any repercussions or backlash. But why? The daily struggles to get by in a world that doesn’t accommodate for blind people are incredibly difficult. So why are the blind portrayed so comically and inaccurately in films? Luckily, there are a handful of really good movies out there that depict blindness in a way that doesn’t mock or downplay the struggles of the visually impaired....

The Hollywood Foreign Press has announced its list of nominations for the 73rd Golden Globes Awards Ceremony, which is going to take place near the beginning of 2016. Both the best in film and television are recognized at the annual Golden Globes ceremony, and the event is often viewed as a precursor to the Academy Awards too. Case in point: in 2015, Golden Globes winners such as Alejandro González Iñárritu (for directing Birdman) and Eddie Redmayne (for his starring role in The Theory of Everything) would go on to win Oscars for the same work shortly thereafter....

The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is experiencing a renaissance with James Wan’s Aquaman, as the film looks set to break box-office records in every part of the world. Warner Bros. must be breathing a sigh of relief after Justice League failed to reach the billion-dollar mark. Even if the movie did turn a profit at the end of the day, expectations were naturally higher for the all-star team-up. The box-office wins for the likes of Sony and Warner Bros....

Since Sailor Moon made her debut in the early ’90s, she’s become an icon in the worlds of manga and animation. Her franchise now spans the original manga, anime, movies, live action television series, musicals, video games, and more. The original series followed a reincarnated princess of the Moon Kingdom and her guardians, the Sailor Senshi, as they fought to protect the universe. Every version of the story has kept the same broad strokes of the Sailor Senshi and Sailor Moon’s love Mamoru in tact....

Netflix is known for having an incredibly successful lineup of original television series. Stranger Things, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, The Crown, Master of None, Narcos, 13 Reasons Why, and the Marvel Studios co-productions Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage have proven this streaming giant to also be a production juggernaut when it comes to TV content. But Netflix can mess things up sometimes, either by renewing irrelevant shows for way too many seasons or by canceling promising projects a bit too early....

AAPL stock options have been declared for Tim Cook and five other Apple execs. The SEC filing shows that Cook is in line for more than half a million shares, worth $75M at current value. Four other execs stand to receive shares worth $20M each, while another is in line for $2.25M … The Restricted Stock Unit award was declared in a series of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings made yesterday....
