Supernatural has been on the CW for 13 seasons so far, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. Fans still tune in every week to see what Sam and Dean Winchesters are up to. They’ve grown to love angel Castiel and now Lucifer’s son Jack. Part of the reason why the show is so successful is that it pays off on storylines that are years in the making. Some of these have resulted in surprise moments, even if they just confirm fans’ speculation....

If you grew up in the 90s, chances are you remember A Goofy Movie. This sly little gem wasn’t made by Walt Disney Animation Studios, but rather Disneytoon Studios, and was a modest release that didn’t have to live up to the expectations of the bigger animated films that Disney made in that time period—that being somewhere between Beauty and the Beast and Mulan. It focused on the hilariously inept Goofy and his son Max, who he whisked off on a family vacation right when Max was developing feelings for his friend Roxanne....

The cast of A Quiet Place 2 is growing, as Brian Tyree Henry is reportedly in talks to star. One of the biggest movie surprises of last year for a variety of reasons was Paramount’s A Quiet Place. It was a low-budget horror film directed by and starring John Krasinski, still best known as Jim from The Office, and featured minimal dialogue thanks to its simple premise. The buzz for the movie really began after the first reactions from festivals landed online and continued until the film’s theatrical release....

ABC is discussing plans to expand their Marvel partnership by adding another TV series. When Marvel wanted to bring the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the small screen, ABC was the first place they went. The Disney-owned network picked up Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., began airing the series in 2013, and it’s sixth season will debut next year. They also gave Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter a series of her own, but that ended after two seasons, and Inhumans was canned after just one....

The Academy is laying the groundwork to prevent any kind of abuse and improper behavior from (and against) its members by drafting a Code of Conduct. In the wake of numerous sexual assault cases against producers, directors and other top-ranking officials in the business, the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has decided to establish a collection of set rules for its members to protect industry workers and have offenders accounted for their wrongdoings....

Star Trek: The Next Generation is often on people’s top ten list of the best science fiction television shows, and for good reason; it improved on the already iconic original Star Trek series and managed to stand apart from it with its own greatness. Where the original series chose to focus on action-packed adventures in space, TNG chose to focus on the intellectual curiosity of space exploration, as well as the diplomatic repercussions of so many alien races co-existing in the universe....

For certain characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans may be hard-pressed to imagine any other actor in that role– especially since most performers in Marvel Studios’ shared universe have played their character in one or two — or more — films. But, as is the case in the casting process on any feature, there were multiple people up for key roles. Her vision has led to more diverse TV and changed the course of history. Before Kerry Washington starred as Olivia Pope on Scandal, women of color as leads on TV were few and far between. According to Vox, Washington was the first black female lead on TV since 1974....

Most movies require a willing suspension of disbelief. It’s part of the deal we make when watching a movie. We’ll believe a man can fly if you can show it to us. Moviemaking is all smoke and mirrors and the whole thing is a fragile illusion. A good movie will draw viewers in and any minor immersion-breaking things are mostly ignored because they’re swept along for the ride. Bad movies usually fail to engage the audience on a basic level and it’s at this point that you start to see behind the curtain, breaking the spell....

There are plenty of reasons that villains in the comic book world decide to use their powers for evil, instead of good. Some bad guys do just want to take over the world – megalomaniacs, gods and the criminally insane, mostly. The majority have more relatable motivations, though. Magneto wants to protect mutants from what he sees as their inevitable oppression by the human race, Ra’s al Ghul is an eco-terrorist, and Wilson Fisk and his ilk are protecting their businesses and territories....

Forget Tim Burton’s black-camp fairy tale. Renounce Christopher Nolan’s colorless realism. Ignore Zack Snyder’s Miller fetish. Mask of the Phantasm is the best Batman film of them all. From studio meddling to a brief production window, this film had everything going against it. When it was finally released, it bombed in epic fashion at the box office, but it later found new life thanks to home video and the internet....

Street Outlaws is one of the Discovery channel’s most successful shows. Now eleven seasons strong, the series shows no time of slowing down any time soon. The show has even broken off into two spin offs– Street Outlaws: New Orleans and Street Outlaws: Memphis. Street Outlaws is unique to other reality shows, as it displays real illegal activities. In fact, the stars of the shows do not get paid by sponsors due to the nature of their activities....

While fans have been waiting in anticipation for years, it has finally been revealed that HBO will launch a reunion special for everyone’s favorite sitcom: Friends. With this stellar cast coming back to bring these characters to the screen once again, fans are full of excitement and nostalgia. While there’s debate about whether or not this reunion special will be all it’s cracked up to be, fans can still admit the love the idea of this cast reuniting....

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will team up with Paramount to produce the 1840s-Boston-set undercover police drama The Shadows. The duo’s Pearl Street Films shingle, headed up by president Jennifer Todd, produced last year’s Best Picture nominee Manchester By the Sea as well as Affleck’s own box office bomb Live By Night. Based on the Boston Globe Magazine article “Into the Shadows” by Matthew Pearl, The Shadows will tell the story of America’s first undercover police detectives, who are dispatched to the dangerous streets of 1840s Boston to deal with a crime wave that coincides with an influx of immigrants to the city....

Aladdin outperformed expectations and earned one of the best Memorial Day weekends of all-time at the domestic box office. In addition to their lucrative subsidiaries like Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Pixar, Disney has found great success recently producing live-action remakes of their animated classics. New versions of Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast were all major hits, proving there was a large audience interested in seeing fresh spins on familiar stories....

A stellar documentary will help you view the world differently by expanding your knowledge and simply making you think, regardless of subject matter, and there are a lot of really good ones just waiting to be streamed on Netflix. Bear in mind, some documentaries can be hard to watch, like The Keepers and Making A Murderer, but sometimes the veil needs to be lifted so that things can change for the better....

It seems like a lifetime ago since Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow’s initial release. Red and Blue gave players their first look into the world of Pokémon, along with a 150-entry long Pokédex to fill out. Two years later, Yellow gave players the chance to relive the events of the television series, as well as their very own Pikachu to travel with them on their adventure. Now, over two decades later, players will get a chance to experience a re-imagined Kanto on their TV screens for the first time (if you don’t count the Game Tower mode in Pokémon Stadium 2)....
