Saving the world is serious business…mostly. Enjoy a peek at the Marvel’s #AgentsofSHIELD Blooper Reel from Season 4! pic.twitter.com/vMpDtjqe1z— Agents of SHIELD (@AgentsofSHIELD) October 7, 2017
A new blooper reel from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 has released online. The series premiered four years ago and provided ABC their most-watched series premiere ever. Unfortunately, the non-superhero comic book show’s ratings have continued to dwindle away, so much that the network even planned on canceling the series after its fourth season earlier this year. However, word came down from the powers that be at Disney and the network was forced to renew the series for unspecified reasons.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would normally be back on the air by this point in the year, but this time around, ABC opted to air the first season of Inhumans instead - though considering how poorly received that series has been so far, that may not have been the wisest choice. Still, that hasn’t prevented the network from promoting S.H.I.E.L.D.’s new season at events such as New York Comic-Con. And although fans of the non-superhero comic book show were probably hoping to see the first trailer for season 5 by this point, for now, they may have to settle for a hilarious blooper reel.
Marvel TV head honcho Jeph Loeb moderated today’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel at New York Comic-Con 2017, which saw several cast members - including Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet, Ming-Na Wen, Elizabeth Henstridge, Ian De Caestecker, Henry Simmons, and Natalia Cordova-Buckley - take the stage and reveal secrets about the new season, as well as reminisce the past - and that included showing off an impressively hilarious blooper reel from season 4. You can watch the video in the section above.
Clearly, the cast and crew of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. know how to handle themselves in murky situations, such as saving the world from extraterrestrial (and occasionally supernatural) threats. Even actors who appeared only briefly throughout the season - such as Jason O’Mara and John Hannah - seem to have mixed in well with the main stars. Hopefully, that’s something that continues well throughout future seasons, however many ABC plans on making.
Although general audiences have yet to see any footage from the upcoming season, Marvel TV did screen footage from the season premiere during their panel this afternoon, which teased the new, space-themed story arc that was first hinted at in last season’s shocking finale episode. Aside from the brief footage shown at NYCC, though, we know that the Kree will finally make their return this season, which will also see the return of Nick Blood as Lance Hunter. For now, though, the above blooper reel will have to suffice until the first trailer is released.
