90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? star, Larissa Dos Santos Lima, donated to co-star Jay Smith’s GoFundMe for help with his legal fees as he awaits trial and faces deportation after his divorce with Ashley Martson. The reality star is waiting on a court date to know his outcome as to whether he will be sent home to Jamaica or given permission to stay in the United States.

Jay Smith starred on season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé with fiancé Ashley, where he moved from Jamaica to America with the help of the K-1 visa to get married. The couple married in May of 2018, but due to Jay’s infidelity and trust issues, Ashley did not file for Jay’s adjustment of status. Ashley had caught Jay having sex with another woman, ultimately kicking him out of her house and calling the cops when he refused to leave. Later on in the season, he refused to sign the divorce papers. Although the couple has since been back and forth on the divorce, it seems Ashley is moving on from her marriage with Jay. After turning himself in after having a warrant out for his arrest for breaching the Protection of Abuse Order charge filed by Ashley, Jay is now in custody with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center and is facing deportation.

The GoFundMe page has already raised over $4,000 of the $5,000 goal for Jay to have an attorney, and over 140 people have donated to the reality star’s cause. Of those donors is a fellow 90 Day Fiancé cast member, Larissa Dos Santos Lima, who donated $25 to Jay’s GoFundMe campaign. Larissa told In Touch that while she supports her castmate’s battle to stay in the United States, she also believes in the law.

As Larissa has had three domestic abuse charges against her from her ex-husband Colt, she understands how it is to be a foreigner locked up in an American jail. She said, “Despite the applicant contributing to the household as allowed, many feel like prisoners as they are solely reliant on the people that brought them over to the U.S. The K-1 applicant is left at the mercy of his or her sponsor and it is leading to more and more abuse of the immigrant.” Larissa also had her own GoFundMe page while she was going through her split with Colt Johnson, but it has since been removed.

As Jay awaits to see if his GoFundMe page will afford him a lawyer to help with his fight to not be deported back to the Caribbean, there have been many fans pointing out that GoFundMe doesn’t support anyone who is in need of defense or support of anyone alleged to be involved in criminal activity. So, with that being the case, it’s possible that the campaign might be shut down by the site. It remains to be seen where Jay will end up at the end of this rocky relationship and messy divorce with Ashley.
