90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star Ashley Martson clarifies false reports claiming that she’s in rehab when she’s actually at a women’s retreat. Recently, there have been widely and incorrectly reported claims that Martson had opted to enter rehab following a rough couple of months in her life. However, the 90 Day Fiancé star took to social media earlier this week to set the record straight, explaining that although she is seeking help, she was at a women’s wellness retreat and not rehab.
The TLC star started appearing on season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé with Jay Smith, her significant. The couple has had several problems with infidelity since their elopement to Las Vegas, which viewers can follow on season 4 of the TLC spinoff 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? The couple split and Ashley filed for divorce back in January 2019, but quickly withdrew the papers just a day after. The pair tried working things out when Martson’s health declined due to her battle with lupus. After a few months, Ashley filed for divorce from Jay again in April of this year. The two have seemingly called it quits officially this time with no signs of the other on their Instagram accounts.
The 90 Day Fiancé star confirmed to Radar Online that she would be entering a mental wellness retreat for women in North Carolina on June 17. This inaccurate news spread over the internet that Ashley had entered a rehab center, so she explained:
The truth is, she’s in a women’s retreat to face the trauma from her past. It came to a lot of surprise to fans to hear Ashley open up about a traumatic experience that happened when she was 19. In an interview with Pop Culture, she said, “I was kidnapped and raped in 2005. I am always in fight or flight mode, I am always on edge and I have never ever gone to therapy over it." Still, she admits a lot of her depression is actually caused by the alleged infidelity and the divorce from Jay. As for her reasoning behind going to a women’s retreat, she said:
“I’m taking the steps to better myself and to live a more peaceful life. I have a lot of ways about me that need to change before I can genuinely be happy or hold a happy relationship. I’m struggling more than any of you will ever know. I put on a good face for people.”
Considering everything she’s been through, it’s no wonder Ashley would want to seek some form of treatment and aid. What’s more is that opening up about her past experiences requires a kind of bravery that proves that she is eager to better herself in any way she can. In the meantime, fans can rest assured that Ashley is embracing self-care; and no matter what route she might have taken to get there, the fact that she’s able to help herself is all that really matters.
“I realized after three failed relationships, that it’s not all of them, and I need to work on myself … And I realize all of my failed relationships do go back to what happened when I was 19. And it’s time I deal with it … I have never dealt with anything like I have been feeling right now, with Jay … Jay wants to work things out but I am not interested at this point."
