Most often, it is the little things in life that have the most significant meaning. Little things consisting of simple gestures like complimenting your partner or always being supportive and showing affection. Or it could be surprising your mate or spending time with your partner’s family. And in the 1990’s one of primetime’s biggest weekly dramas, Beverly Hills 90210 became the absurdity of romantic gestures.

For ten years, we watched the kids of West Beverly graduate high school navigating their way through the cesspool of romantic situations. Romance and mate swapping was always “in the air.” But what can we expect from a group of good-looking teenage kids from the highest of society to do with all that money and free time?

Brandon Takes Tracy To Hong Kong To Meet His Father

Tracy (Jill Novick) is excited to travel to Hong Kong and meet Brandon’s father in Season 7, “Spring Breakdown.” During the visit, Brandon’s father notices that Tracy seems to be more in love with him than he is with her. Brandon (Jason Priestley) confides in his father and tells him that he is still in love with Kelly (Jennie Garth).

Tracy senses that something is wrong and wants Brandon to assure her that she is not there until someone else comes along. He reassures her that she is not, then ends their relationship two episodes later in “The Long Goodbye.”

Ray Pruit Sings A Song For Donna In The Back Of His Pick-Up Truck

In Season 5 “Things That Go Bang In The Night,” Donna (Tori Spelling) gets in a fight with her boyfriend, Griffin (Casper Van Dien), and runs off with Ray (Jamie Walters). While sitting in the back of Ray’s pick-up truck, he leans over to kiss her, but she pulls away. Ray is confused, and Donna tells him that it is hard for her to talk about why she is so hesitant. Without preparation, he sings a song about her to her, and she blurts out that she is a virgin.

He tells her that all that matters is that they are together. Things did not end well with the two love birds, Ray, not resolving his anger management issues, gets jealous and pushers her down a flight of stairs in the final episode of that season.

Steve Proposes To A Pregnant Janet, Again

Initially, Janet (Lindsay Price) rejected Steve’s (Ian Ziering) marriage proposal because she feels his life has no structure and is drowning in chaos. Steve buys a ring and questions whether he should propose again. Tearfully, he reminds Janet how much he is looking forward to becoming a father which causes her to see him in a different light.

At, the hospital while Janet has the ultrasound, Steve gets down on one knee, gives Janet a ring, and proposes in which she answers with a tearful yes in Season 10, “A Fine Mess.”

Dylan Takes Brenda On A Romantic Getaway To Mexico

In Season 2, “Mexican Standoff,” Dylan (Luke Perry) invites Brenda (Shannen Doherty) to Baja for the weekend. Dylan does not like the fact that she was not honest with her parents about going to Mexico.

While in Mexico, Brenda finds out that Dylan bought another girl there last summer and, it causes a colossal argument. Eventually, they make-up, dance the night away at a local cantina where Brenda tells him that she will never forget this night. The feeling lasted two more seasons until Brenda moved to London.

Dylan Offers Kelly A Trip Around The World

Dylan tries to convince Kelly to go with him on a trip around the world in Season 5, “Hello Life, Goodbye Beverly Hills,” but she is in a semi-committed relationship with Brandon that causes more stress in their love triangle. A jealous Valerie (Tiffani Theissen) finds a plane ticket with Kelly’s name on it and believes that she is planning to leave with Dylan and tells Brandon.

Brandon confronts Dylan and Dylan explains to him that he and Kelly are connected like he would not understand. Brandon buys her a diamond ring and proposes to her to test Dylan’s theory. Feeling too much pressure, Kelly tells them that she loves them both and proclaims, “I choose me.”

Dylan Kisses Brenda To Give Her A Reason To Come Back To Him

Brenda tells Dylan that she is going to London to start her acting career in Season 4, “Mr. Walsh Goes To Washington.” Dylan supports her decision, and Brenda tells him how much she will always love him. She tells him that she will not be gone forever and “wants a reason or something to come back to.”

He kisses her passionately one last time as the episode ends. Reportedly, Shannen Doherty was fired from the show because of her difficulties with the crew and fellow actors.

Donna Kisses David For The First Time At The Spring Dance

Donna has reservations about going with David (Brian Austin Green) to the Spring Dance in Season 1, “Home Again. After his solo performance on the dance floor, he wins over the admiration of both the crowd and Donna. She gives him a big kiss and turns to her friends who are watching and states that she likes him and if anybody has a problem with that then it is too bad.

Although they had their “ups and down,” this starts the relationship of the shows truest couple, who would end up together in the very end.

David Sets The Mood And Bedroom For His And Donna’s First Time

For their second anniversary, Donna and David decide to “go all way,” solidifying their relationship by giving themselves to one another, breaking the chains of celibacy. David sets the mood with candles and dim lighting dressed only in his underwear. Donna comes to the bedroom dressed in a pink silky robe impressed by his efforts proclaiming that they will remember this for the rest of their lives.

But when they start kissing, the doorbell rings, and Donna immediately assumes that Kelly left her key and opens the door only to find out it is her parents, ending their romantic evening in Season 4, “Windstruck.”

Dylan Proposes To Toni Marchette And Gets Married

In Season 6, “Earthquake Weather” and “One Wedding And A Funeral,” Dylan professes his love for Toni (Rebecca Gayheart) and asks for her hand in marriage. But her father Anthony Marchette (Stanley Kamel) is not happy and wants Dylan killed. In a beautiful but private ceremony by the ocean, they exchange their wedding vows.

The next day, Dylan’s car gets riddled by bullets from a hit that Toni’s father ordered, but surprisingly it is not Dylan but Toni in the vehicle.

Donna And David Get Married

Finally, Donna gives David a yes to his marriage proposal in the series finale titled “Penultimate (Part 1) and “Ode To Joy (Part 2)” Donna ask Nat (Joe E. Tata) to walk her down the aisle to take her father place who died from a heart attack earlier that year.

Dylan and Kelly recite poetry during the ceremony. And after a long tearful confession of love to one another, the wedding is concluded at a reception at the Beverly Hilton as the graduates of West Beverly dance the night away, saying goodbye to the shows ten-year run. And who would have thought it would end with David Silver and Donna Martin (the daughter to the show’s creator, Arron Spelling) getting hitched.
