Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is hitting theaters this weekend, and you would think from its title that it will be the last time director Paul W.S. Anderson and star Milla Jovovich would return to the movies increasingly loosely based on the survival-horror video games. But we’ve been around long enough to know that just calling something the last one is no guarantee. We’re usually sorry to see a beloved franchise go – or relieved/apathetic to see one we don’t like go away....

Almost exactly 16 years ago, the now-defunct WB network premiered Gilmore Girls, a dramedy focused on the unique mother-daughter relationship of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, and their small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. As soon as it hit screens, the independent, fast-talking ladies became the envy of every teenage girl. It was the Lorelais against the world, and while they often attracted the attentions of men, their loyalty was always to each other....

Having pinned down the 15 Best Movie Posters of the 1980s, we now move on to the decade of the ’90s. While the ’80s gave us some amazing traditional illustrated posters, the 1990s was a transitional decade where studios and marketing companies started to rely heavily on photography. Prints and advertising (P&A) campaigns would key focus towards TV commercials more than ever before. Artists like Drew Struzan and John Alvin were looked as luxuries, as graphic designers and photo-illustration became the norm....

It’s a shame that the new theatrical release The Edge of Seventeen has had a relatively weak showing at the box office, since it’s one of the most perceptive coming-of-age films in years. Starring Hailee Steinfeld as an angst-ridden teenager, it’s also one of those movies that truly seems to understand high school. In that regard, it’s not alone, as numerous other pictures have successfully captured at least some facet of what it’s like to be a student coping with classes, cliques, peer pressure, and other academic hurdles....

My Giant Life is a show about really uninteresting characters who just happen to be abnormally tall. There’s nothing wrong with that mind you– everyone has a place, even if they’re constantly having to duck under overpasses and are randomly jumping into street ball games to swat down any fool who tries to drain the three. Seriously, though, this might as well be called TLC Presents Tall People Doing The Exact Same Things That All The Other Stars of Our Shows Do, but we’re guessing that title is a bit too long to post in the corner to promote the next upcoming episode....

Once of the best aspects of gaming is invading a dungeon. This usually involves battling monsters, stealing treasure, evading traps and surviving the harsh environment. The dungeon isn’t something new to video games, as they are a popular location used in tabletop games. They are even part of the title of Dungeons & Dragons, which should explain how central they are to the concept of the game. Not all dungeons are created equally, however....

Keeping a television show on the air is a delicate balancing act. As a creator, you have to worry about remaining true to your vision, while pleasing studio execs and keeping fans happy. The plot has to be spooled out over time, so as not to burn out material too quickly, but keep things moving at an entertaining pace. These days, there is certainly no shortage of excellent TV, with more fresh content always on the way....

When the 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy movie was announced, there wasn’t a lot of fanfare or expectation – even from the moderate comic book fans. Several creative teams have tried and failed over the years to capture the magic and potential of this loosely associated, wildly varying group of characters from all around the universe....

Scenes and sequences are cut from movies for a variety of different reasons. Sometimes the scene doesn’t fit with the pacing of the movie, other times it changes the tone of the movie, and most of the time, it’s simply because the film is too long. These scenes are then pushed to the bonus features of a DVD, the abyss of YouTube, or tucked away forever in a vault. The DC’s vault of lost and abandoned scenes contains a long list of deleted scenes that offer everything from fan service to random unnecessary nonsense....

One of the most popular shows of the mid-’90s and the early 2000s, Friends took the world by storm by becoming an unexpectedly massive hit - a big enough deal that it turned the six actors at its core into massive stars. We’re guessing that everyone involved was perfectly happy to be associated with their beloved characters. With such a mammoth series it can be near impossible for things not to fall through the cracks....
